1. How was the Young Trade Unionists formed?

Answer: The Young Trade Unionists was formed by the Metropolitan Baltimore Council AFL-CIO. This is a Central Labor Council within the State of Maryland. Our organization was founded in November 09.

2. What is your target age?

Answer: Our target age is 18-35, but we do encourage our seasoned Union members to attend for creative ideas and initiatives to advance the labor movement.

3. What is the reason for starting this group?

Answer: The reason for starting this group is due to the lack of education that young Union members and the public have in reference to the labor movement. There is an urgent need for the American people to bring solidarity amongst Unions, communities, and America.

4. What day is the Young Trade Unionists general meetings held?

Answer: The Young Trade Unionists general meetings are held every first Tuesday of the month at 2701 W. Patapsco Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21230. The time for our general meetings are 7:00 pm.

5. Whose allowed to attend the Young Trade Unionist general meetings?

Answer: We encourage everyone to attend the Young Trade Unionists general meetings. This includes Union members, the public, and Public Officials.

6. What happens at the Young Trade Unionists General Meetings?

Answer: At the Young Trade Unionists meetings we invite Union Leaders, Educators, and Public officials to share their experiences, insight, and ideas on the labor movement and how, the YTU can contribute. We also incorporate different ideas to attract young members such as the Networking and Solidarity Night.

7. Is the Young Trade Unionists volunteer or a private funded group?

Answer: The Young Trade Unionists is 100% volunteer. We depend on our fundraisers and dedicated members to keep the future of the labor movement thriving.

8. How can interested parties help the Young Trade Unionists?

Answer: At this time we have two committees formed called the Education committee and Fund Raising committee which we are looking for interested members. You can also help by providing information that promotes the good of Local Unions, we encourage you to email the information to info@youngtradeunionists.org , so that we can inform the membership.
